2025 Talks
Valhalla Viking Festival is all about spending the weekend BEING your most Viking self but it is also about self discovery, the curious, the spiritual and those hungry to learn whether it's about history, another culture or mythology. Talks are free to join and we encourage everyone to drop by at least 1 talk while they're with us.
Here are the talks we're holding in 2025
NORSE FAITH
LOCATION: WOODLAND TEMPLE

THE HIDDEN PEOPLE AND LAND SPIRITS OF ICELAND
We will take a peek into the magical hidden world where various creatures such as elves, dwarves, trolls and landspirits live. We will discuss our relationship with them, past and present, the importance of the land spirits during the Viking age, how to spot potential areas where they live, and how to interact with them and strengthen our third eye. Those intending to participate are encouraged to bring a gift for the spirits. Anything that glitters or is crafted from nature is especially valued, as is Mead or Ale. The talk is suitable for adults and children alike. If there is an interest, we could perform an elfblot.

HISTORY OF MEAD
Afon Mel makes the best mead around and they know all about it!
Find out about the history of mead, from the earliest known archaeological evidence, to how it features in different cultures across time in various cultures from daily life to mythology.

FIND YOUR VIKING BIRTHDAY
A talk about the Old Icelandic Calendar and how the Norse thought of time. In this talk, we will learn to find the date we would have celebrated our birthday in the Saga age, and we will gain an insight into how the Vikings perceived time. By learning this, you will gain a deeper insight into the actual sagas and learn more about traditions, celebrations and blots.
