The Vikings were known for many things, and their love of life, crafty lifestyle and of course their desire and ability to party are the main ones We will bring some more of that into our modern Viking culture with the Valhalla Viking Festival. We have plenty of activities and plans throughout the day with a Great Hall Feast in the evening only to rise again the following day and do it all again!
This festival will be a 3 day camping event running in the last weekend of July. During the day there are plenty of demonstrations and workshops to join, shows to watch, things to see and have a go at suitable for all ages (though our primary focus is adults). Each evening a few hundred Vikings will line the long tables of our Mead Hall to eat and drink together at feast.
During the feast, the food, mead and ale will flow freely! The goal is to create an amazing Viking experience where you can be your most Viking self with a few hundred other Vikings, Pagans and Heathens. Why? You ask... Because it will be awesome! (and the closest we can get to Valhalla while in Midgard). Please note there will be terms to the serving such as not being allowed to stack drinks or receive top ups when your glass/horn is not empty. If you are deemed as being too enhibriated, you will not be served . Please drink responsibly and don't be an ass about it. It's all about the atmosphere created sharing drinks, food and stories with old and new friends.
Sounds good you say, but what else will be going on? As this festival is for Vikings, Heathens and the wider Pagan community, we will be making sure that there are plenty of activities to do throughout the weekend, and some amazing entertainment too.
Fancy ritualistically walking hot embers from a great fire? How about breaking an arrow with your throat? If that's not for you, the plan is to have archery sessions, axe throwing, blacksmithing experiences, traditional Viking games and other activities throughout the weekend. The more of our fellow Vikings join, the more things we can organize for you to enjoy.
If you need to take a break and enjoy some entertainment with a horn full of mead, then you can enjoy the assortment of fire dancers in the evening, or hear tales of the Gods and the great Vikings before us told by traditional storytellers around a fire in the woodlands onsite. Maybe you'd prefer to hang out with the wolves and ravens, or do some battle training with some fellow Viking warriors?
If you want to pay your respects to the Gods, then you can do so near the great wood carvings of Odin, Frigg, Thor, and Freya.
Most importantly, you can chill out around one of the fires and get to know your fellow Vikings over a horn of five of mead.
If this sounds like something for you, then sign up to our mailing list to find out more details, get updates and find out about upcoming special offers and more. the space for the fest is limited so be sure to get your ticket before they run out
How are we making this happen?
With the help of many of our supporters, your help and sponsors we are make it a reality and we hope even better than we imagine.
The start to this was a crowdfunding campaign for the initial budget needed. we reached our goal in just 4 hours of going live! This is a not-for-profit event so the more tickets we sell, the better the festival gets for us, you and your fellow Vikings and what we can arrange fully depends on the tickets sold so get your tickets now and tell your friends to do so too!
Here's how you can help.
Spread the word or get involved. Tell EVERYONE you know that would be interested about what we are doing. The best chance we have of creating something truly special for everyone is to be making sure people know about what we are planning. So please tell your friends and fill the Valhalla Feast Hall.
Want to play a bigger part?
Get involved. If you're interested in volunteering, participating or helping us organize the festival, then check out our Get involved section. We are looking for volunteers who will have a chance to shape this festival and make sure it's the festival YOU want it to be. We'll be giving more details about volunteering via the mailing list as well, so please signup. There are many benefits to volunteering during the event too, just sign up to the mailing list and all will be revealed in due time.
If you're keen to do even more to help, then please browse SkullVikings and treat yourself to something. A proportion of our sales is sponsoring the festival making this not just happen, but to be awesome , to support traditional crafts and performers.
