Competition Details

How To Enter

• You must pre-register before entering the competition.
• Book one competition place for each different mead you wish to enter.
• If you are entering two different meads, you must add two competition places to your basket.
• This applies even if both meads are being entered into the same category.
• If you are entering one Sweet Honey Mead and one Experimental Mead, you must book two places.
• Select the number of entries required, add them to your basket and complete the free checkout as usual.
• Bring one bottle of each registered mead with you on the day.

Competition Categories

• Sweet Honey Mead
• Sweet Fruit Mead
• Dry Honey Mead
• Dry Fruit Mead
• Other, Experimental or Spiced Mead

Judging

Entries will be judged on the overall quality and character of the mead. The judging criteria will include:

• Aroma
• Flavour
• Balance
• Technical execution
• Overall impression

The competition format and judging process will be explained to entrants at the beginning of the session.

Prizes

Competition prizes will be announced shortly.

Festival Admission Required

• This competition booking does not include admission to Valhalla Viking Festival.
• Every entrant must hold a valid Friday Day Ticket or Weekend Festival Ticket covering Friday 30 July 2027.
• You cannot enter the festival or participate in activities without a valid festival admission ticket for that day.
• Under 18s cannot enter or participate in the Mead Maker's Competition.

Terms and Conditions

• You must be aged 18 or over to enter this competition.
• You must hold a valid festival ticket covering Friday 30 July 2027.
• You must pre-register each different mead you intend to enter.
• Each registered entry requires one bottle of the corresponding mead.
• Entries should be clearly identifiable so they can be matched to the correct entrant and competition category.
• Afon Mel and Valhalla Viking Festival reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered unsuitable to take part.
• Reasons for refusing participation may include, but are not limited to, inappropriate behaviour, intoxication, being underage or failing to follow instructions.
• Entrants are responsible for ensuring their submitted drinks are safe and suitable for consumption.
