Introduction to Throat Singing with Visy (Seidrblot)

Discover the ancient art of throat singing in this unique workshop led by Visy of Seidrblot.

Whether you've heard throat singing on stage, in traditional folk music, or simply wondered how those powerful harmonic sounds are created, this workshop offers an accessible introduction to the techniques behind this fascinating vocal tradition.

Visy will begin by sharing his personal journey into throat singing, discussing its origins, styles, and how he developed his own practice. Through demonstrations, guided breathing exercises, and vocal warm-ups, participants will explore how breath control, resonance, and the positioning of the mouth and tongue shape the sounds we produce.

The workshop will then introduce the three main throat singing styles, with practical exercises designed to help participants begin creating harmonics and exploring new vocal possibilities. There will also be opportunities to ask questions, learn from Visy's experience, and hear demonstrations of the techniques in action.

No previous singing or musical experience is required. The workshop is open to all genders and abilities, and focuses on exploration, experimentation, and discovering new ways to use your voice. While mastering throat singing takes practice, most participants leave with a deeper understanding of their voice, new techniques to develop, and the excitement of having created sounds they never thought possible.

YOU MUST ARRIVE 10 MIN BEFORE THE START OF THE WORKSHOP. IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE IN TIME YOUR SPACE WILL BE OFFERED TO SOMEONE ELSE

You must be 11 or older to join this workshop. If you are under 18, you will need to be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. You may need ID if you are lucky enough to look like you need an adult to accompany you.

You must hold a valid Festival ticket for the day you are joining the workshop. You cannot attend any workshops or participate in any activities without a ticket that gains you entrance to the festival on the given day.

Upon purchase, you'll receive your payment/booking confirmation. You'll be on an access list when you partake so you just need proof that you're who booked when attending the experience and sign in with Wayne directly before the workshop.

You may be able to join on the day if there are any spaces left or if there are any last minute cancellations, however please note that this is very unlikely. Just ask at the workshop entrance if there are still any spaces available.
